I've realised that it's been quite a while since I blogged regularly, and I could blame the fact that I've been mad busy with work, but honestly, I've just been a bit slack!
Having just got back from another excellent Codegarden in Copenhagen, I'm feeling inspired to do some more Umbraco blogging. If I can climb Mount Fuji, I can manage to post at least one blog a month or so, right?
One of the things that I noticed while I was at Codegarden this year was that there were a lot of newer Umbraco developers there who hadn't been using the CMS long. From talking to lots of new folks, there's a lot of stuff that myself and a lot of the other more "senior" Umbraco community members take for granted that the newer guys don't know about. One of the big things that came up was packages. On a number of occasions, someone would say "oh I wish there was a way of doing X or Y in Umbraco", only for one of the old hands to say "there's like 3 packages for that!".
So, in the next week or so, I'm going to start blogging about some of the basic and most useful packages that I use in most of my Umbraco sites, along with examples of when you might use them etc. Once I'm done with those, I'm going to start looking at some other cool packages that I don't necessarily use every day, but that can be very helpful indeed.
Hopefully they'll be useful to some of the newer guys and help them to love Umbraco as much as the rest of us do :)
